What it was about
From 1 July to 31 August 2026, Neues Morgenblatt and NemosGo tried out a new way to pay for digital content. The test ran on Neues Morgenblatt, the cultural journal “for the educated classes” with pieces on opera, ballet, theatre and concert. The aim was to show what buying feels like across the different channels, to gather feedback from participants and to improve NemosGo on that basis. Within seconds of payment the paywall dropped, and payment and delivery stayed verifiably linked. At Neues Morgenblatt alone, there were more than 500 purchases, each made by a person or approved by a person for their AI assistant. The only open item is connecting the bank account for paying in and out through the licensed payment service provider. It changes nothing about the purchase itself.

The campaigns
Read articles
Neues Morgenblatt stands for high-quality cultural journalism, so far without a payment model. In the field test, readers bought individual pieces and read them within seconds.
Articles in the AI assistant
Find, buy and read selected articles right inside ChatGPT or Claude via the NemosGo connector. The assistant buys on behalf of its user, what the industry calls agentic commerce. Setup takes a few minutes.

Usage-based AI cost allocation
Here it is not a person buying but an application: it pays for the use of an AI model per call, from a credit balance, and receives a receipt for each one. This tested the second half of NemosGo, purchasing between machines. The receipt per call shows which application, team or department caused the cost.

Donation
The donation campaign is complete: from 11 to 23 July, donations could be made in Neues Morgenblatt, from 50 cents, every 5 euros planting a young tree for the Munich region. Each donation delivered a tree certificate into the app, with a personal dedication if wished.
Admission ticket
For the 125th anniversary of “Buddenbrooks”, twelve admission tickets to a literary evening at Salon Luitpold were bought through Neues Morgenblatt and paid with NemosGo. The QR-code ticket landed in the app as a delivery seconds later.
And a demonstration
Media publishing, start to finish
A publisher puts up an issue, a reader buys a single piece from it for 25 cents. Screen recording in one run, 1:28 minutes. The film shows, in this one case, how the parts work together.
Best viewed in full screen.
- The publisher’s side. Upload an issue as a PDF, enter title and price; the summary is generated automatically and can be edited.
- The reader’s side. The kiosk shows the credit and the available pieces. One click buys, the piece opens right away.
- The checkout in between. Agreement, payment, billing, delivery and receipt in a single step, with no subscription, no cart and no signing in again.
The closed chain
Paid. Delivered. Documented.
Every purchase leaves three markers: paid, delivered and documented, inseparably linked and verifiable. That is the difference from a mere paywall: a verifiable record for every step.
